Facebook just added the functionality to create pages for musicians and bands and by doing that directly challenged the reigning web 2.0 social media service for music, MySpace.
MySpace has continuously failed to develop its offering and with other music services like Last.FM adding more and more social networking aspects to their portfolio and Facebook now adding the same functionality with better user interface boosted with the endless extendability using the Facebook apps the war is on.
It still remains to be seen who will be crowned the winner of the battle for online music fans souls but if nothing else we hope this makes the guys at MySpace realize that they need to get with the program and start churning out some updates and cool features if they want to stay in the game...
